Wooden Sink Cover/Cutting Board is durable and when properly cared for it will last for years.
If your Sink Cover is not finished. It is plain wood cut and sanded, no paint, varnish or oils have been used on the wood.
If you wish to season your board, vegetable oil can be used to season the board and keep it from drying out. Also there are comercially available treatments that use mineral oil and bees wax. It also helps resist water.
NEVER use furniture polish on your Sink Cover. Furniture Polish contains toxic substances that may be harmful if ingested.
Water is wood's worst enemy. Don't let your Sink Cover Cutting Board sit in water. If it gets wet, dry it off with a dry towel and let it air dry.
If you leave your Sink Cover covering your sink for more than a few hours, specifically with water on the sink. Moisture could build up in the sink area underneath and warp your cover. Remove the cover and allow it to sit exposed to the air for 6-8 hours.
Your Sink Cover will get small dents and cuts from use. This is to be expected with normal use. If your Sink Cover get rough, you can sand it with 220 grit sandpaper to smooth.
To disinfect your Sink Cover, use vinegar and rinse with water. If you choose to use bleach, make sure your Sink Cover is rinsed very well before using.
